The Brief

The brief was to build a 4 bedroom house on scrubland near Kirkby Lonsdale. Although an incredibly exciting and innovative project, it presented significant challenges

Groundworks

On commencement of the groundworks we hit a pocket of bad ground within the bedrock and subsequently it took over 100 cubes of concrete to create the foundations.

Cathedral-Like Ceiling

There was also to be a sunken garden to the front of the house which involved digging down through the bedrock.

The roof structure also proved tricky because of the angles of the steels required to create the cathedral-like ceiling

Building Services

Stephen and his team recently undertook a ten month project for us involving a full renovation and extension of a period property. The team were excellent from day one. Stephen managed the project and involved us every step of the way. All members of the team were hardworking, polite and tidy in their work. Our project was completed to a very high standard.

We carried out a ground floor redevelopment project in January 2022 at The Longlands Hotel. Stephen and his team worked alongside our project manager and his workforce. We worked to a deadline, which was met, all solutions were found to any problems, all costs were upfront and most importantly the lads were hardworking team players! It was a pleasure to see, well done.

Stephen Hailey provided us with a very professional service from start to finish. Our project was to create a workshop for our engineer within an existing warehouse. Stephen understood what we wanted to achieve and came up with sound ideas before and during the build to ensure we now have an excellent purpose built and bespoke workshop.

We contacted Stephen and his team to help us restart and complete, what had been a difficult renovation through a lack of skill and trust issues. Instantly, Stephen put us at ease and re-ignited the vision we had for the house. We have been now working with him for 18 months and at no point has he not worked with professionalism and building expertise. He is honest and reliable and at all times works with you (the client ) to get the best out of all aspects of his building services. The team, he has, are wonderful and totally trustworthy in your home. He and the team have reinstalled our faith in what a true builder is - a hands-on expert with great client-facing skills and excellent relationship management.

What a pleasure it has been to have met Stephen Hailey and have him deliver our construction project. He is a man of great integrity, focus and drive. In our experience there was no need for a project manager as he was so proactive. He successfully drove our project along and for every unforeseen challenge always found a solution. He commands a team of talented tradesman who are expert at what they do and clearly enjoy working for him (generous provision of tea and cake might be required). In our opinion his quality of work is second to none which is why we have used him on several other projects.
